DZP advises Tramwaje Warszawskie sp. z o. o. on one of the biggest tenders in Europe in recent years for the supply of trams.

On 12 June 2019, the Management Board of Tramwaje Warszawskie, in the presence of the authorities of the Capital City of Warsaw, signed a contract with the Korean company Hyundai Rotem, valued at over PLN 1.8 billion, to supply 213 trams, making it the biggest contract of its type signed in Poland. The first tram will appear on the streets of Warsaw in 2021.

The supply is divided into two stages. At the first stage, Hyundai will supply 123 modern trams, and at the second – optionally 90. The manufacturer has announced that some of the vehicles will be manufactured in Poland. A procurement coordinating centre will also be opened in Poland.

As part of the advice, DZP supported the client comprehensively in an open contract award procedure for "Supply of one-way and two-way, multiple unit, low-floor trams", and in appeals before the National Appeal Board that occurred during the procedure.

The client was advised by DZP lawyers from our Infrastructure & Energy Practice: Katarzyna Kuźma, Partner, and Michał Wojciechowski, Senior Associate.
