Roadmap for the implementation of BIM methodology in public procurement

03.11.2020

DZP and BIM Klaster have assisted PwC, with the support of the European Commission, in developing for the Ministry of Development a "Roadmap for the implementation of BIM methodology in public procurement" together with templates of BIM documents in a joint project "Digitisation of the construction process in Poland".

The document, which is to serve as a starting point for the development of a detailed BIM Implementation Strategy in Poland, sets out a potential plan for measures that will lead to the implementation of BIM methodology in public procurement procedures in the construction industry. In view of the recommended approach, PUSH-PULL refers not only to the public procurement sector, but also to steps taken (that have to be taken) in the private sector.

The roadmap includes:

  • an analysis of how BIM is introduced in selected countries
  • an analysis of key documents and strategic initiatives in Poland
  • BIM legal framework – current situation
  • a matrix of the elements of the strategy for implementing BIM in Poland
  • a timeline for matrix knots
  • success criteria

In the project and with the close involvement of stakeholders, a set of documents has also been developed, comprising BIM document templates, including:

  • BIM lexicon
  • discussion of the BIM Requirements (EIR) template
  • BIM Requirements (EIR) template
  • discussion of the BIM Plan (BEP) template
  • BIM Plan (BEP) template
  • table of production and supply models. Template, discussion, example.
  • BIM annex to the contract

Our client was advised by experts from DZP’s Infrastructure and Energy Practice: Wojciech Hartung, Counsel, and Tomasz Michalczyk, Senior Associate.

The road map for the implementation of BIM methodology in public procurement and the BIM document templates are available on the Ministry of Development’s website:
