Experts will discuss key issues related to the financing of energy storage, relevant from both Polish and international perspectives.

The transition towards renewable energy has significantly increased the importance of large‑scale energy storage in ensuring grid stability and managing variable generation. Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are becoming an essential component of modern energy systems, providing flexibility and supporting security of supply.

As investment in storage accelerates, financing models and regulatory frameworks are gaining importance for developers, lenders, and investors alike.

Join us for a conference exploring key aspects of BESS financing from both an international and Polish perspective. Speakers will discuss current market trends, regulatory considerations, and the role of state aid in supporting storage projects. The programme will conclude with a panel discussion focused on financing structures and risk allocation, featuring representatives from the financial and energy sectors.

The meeting will be opened by Marcin Krakowiak and Magdalena Skowrońska, partners at DZP, who will introduce participants to the topic of the event.

The first discussion panel will focus on global legal and financial perspectives on energy storage. The panel will feature partners from Watson Farley & Williams: Riko Vanezis, Florian Kutzbach, Christian Bauer, and Jean‑Pascal Boutin, who will share their experience from international markets.

The current situation in the Polish energy storage market will be presented by Katarzyna Łabinowicz, Senior Manager at EY, while regulatory aspects will be discussed by Paweł Grzejszczak, Partner, and Bartosz Stań, Associate from DZP’s Infrastructure and Energy Practice. An important part of the meeting will also be a discussion of state aid mechanisms and available support schemes for BESS projects in Poland, presented by Tomasz Zielenkiewicz, Counsel from DZP’s State Aid and EU Funds team.

The event will conclude with a panel discussion on financing energy storage from the perspective of banks and market leaders. The panel will include Daniel Uścimiak (CFA, Deputy Head / Structured and Mezzanine Finance, mBank), Michał Swół (Chief Investment Officer, R.Power), and Sylwester Małecki (Energy Communities Coordinator, Greenvolt). The discussion will be moderated by Tomasz Kalicki, Counsel from DZP’s Capital Markets and Financial Institutions Practice.

The event is dedicated to key stakeholders in the energy sector, including investment funds, financial institutions, banks, project developers, and other market participants seeking a comprehensive understanding of the legal and financial frameworks driving battery storage development in Poland and internationally.

The detailed agenda can be found in the attachment.

The conference will be conducted in Polish and English, with simultaneous interpretation provided.
