A multidisciplinary team has advised PKP Intercity on concluding a multi-billion zloty contract with Alstom Polska for the supply of the first double-deck trains.

The contract covers the purchase of 42 double-deck Coradia Max electric multiple units of a top speed of 200 km/h, with an option for another 30 units. This is the largest rolling stock contract in Polish history and the first project in which PKP Intercity is to introduce double-deck express trains to its fleet.

The contract is worth nearly PLN 6.9 billion, approx. PLN 4.1 billion of which is for the supply of the rolling stock, while for the part relating to maintenance, the company is to pay nearly PLN 2.8 billion. The contract also covers comprehensive servicing, including inspections and major repairs for the entire fleet. The new trains will not only be fast, but also exceptionally spacious and comfortable. Each train will consist of six carriages and, according to PKP Intercity, in the double configuration, the trains will be able to carry up to 1,100 passengers. The new trains will be manufactured entirely in Poland, at plants in Chorzów and Nadarzyn.

For over a year, DZP has supported PKP Intercity in the comprehensive preparation of legal documentation for the investment, particularly the drafting and negotiation of contracts and support in the finalisation process, and represented PKP Intercity in appeal proceedings before the National Appeal Chamber.
