Experts from the DZP law firm have prepared a report summarizing the key conclusions from the second edition of the Top Trends Life Sciences conference - an event dedicated to major regulatory changes and business challenges in the Life Sciences sector.

The second edition of the DZP Top Trends Life Sciences conference brought together nearly 200 participants, including representatives of pharmaceutical companies, public administration, and industry organizations. The event provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and perspectives among businesses, regulators, and healthcare market experts.

Many of the discussions held during the conference led to a shared conclusion - regulations in the pharmaceutical sector are increasingly intertwined with the broader debate on the competitiveness of the European economy, health security, and the conditions for the development of innovation. In a dynamically changing legal environment, it is becoming crucial to create space for dialogue between market participants and public administration.

The conference program included keynote speeches by special guests and industry experts, as well as a panel discussion dedicated to the future directions of pharmaceutical law. Topics discussed during the event included:

  • the competitiveness of the European Union pharmaceutical market in a global context,
  • current legislative changes affecting the system for registering medicinal products,
  • the development of the European Health Data Space (EHDS) and challenges related to personal data protection,
  • future regulatory directions in the pharmaceutical sector.

An important part of the conference also included presentations by DZP experts, who discussed practical aspects of legal changes affecting companies in the Life Sciences sector. During this part of the event, the following topics were addressed:

  • regulations concerning packaging in the pharmaceutical industry,
  • restrictions on access to public procurement markets for contractors and suppliers from so-called third countries,
  • tax challenges related to transfer pricing and withholding tax,
  • opportunities for financing innovation through venture capital funds,
  • upcoming changes in labor law, including those related to pay transparency and anti-mobbing measures,
  • new standards of legal communication - Legal Design and plain language,
  • challenges related to the implementation of AI governance systems in Life Sciences organizations.

The report prepared by DZP experts summarizes the key conclusions from individual presentations and discussions, and also identifies the main directions of regulatory changes that will affect the functioning of the Life Sciences sector in the coming years.
