DZP is supporting Kumho Tire, a South Korean tire manufacturer and a market leader, in the legal aspects of its landmark investment to build a new tire manufacturing plant in Opole, Poland.

DZP advises Kumho Tire on the legal framework for its strategic investment in Poland, which involves the construction of the company’s first European production facility. 

The new plant will be located in the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone in Opole-Wrzoski. The project, valued at approximately USD 587 million, is scheduled to launch operations in 2028.

This investment marks a significant step in Kumho Tire’s global growth strategy, aimed at strengthening its presence in Europe - a market that accounts for roughly 25% of global tire consumption. The Opole facility will produce premium tires, including high-performance and large-inch models, for leading automotive brands.

The project is led by Soo Youn Kim, Partner and Co-Head of DZP’s Korean Desk, together with Tomasz Zielenkiewicz, Counsel specializing in state aid matters. The team includes Katarzyna Kuźma, Co-Head of the Korean Desk; Aneta Włoszek, Senior Associate, who advises on public aid alongside Tomasz Zielenkiewicz; Anna Okła-Woźniak, Partner, and Łukasz Mulczyk, Associate who handle real estate matters.
